<reviewbody>Finally, an electronic concept album that is comprehsible and yet not oversimplfied. It is actually fun to listen to. This album will make your day if you have the slightest respect for this genre.</reviewbody>

<review><reviewbody>More food inspired music comes your way courtesy of Seestrings. Similar in vein to the Pasta EP that I reviewed earlier, the Strawberry Jam EP can be thought of as a much more laidback version of the pasta EP in a sense. Think of it as melodic chillout IDM.

Each track of the EP is different but exhibits a strong coherence to each other. What we have here are soothing melody lines, highly atmospheric sounds/effects and a great attention to production. Each track presents subtle changes from the others and all of them have a steady but satisfying rhythm to them. The First Slice of Bread starts off with a stuttering rhythm but converges to one of steady slow beats with rich synth lines layered on top of each other. The Peanut Butter and The Strawberry Jam continues with a dash of melancholy and well thought out syncopated synth lines that definitely allows the mind to just drift and relax. The latter track especially featured a sort of synth solo with accompaniment which was great as I have hardly heard synth solos in IDM music. The Last Slice of Bread ends off by introducing a plucked string instrument into the mix. No new surprises here. Just more music to sway along to.

Overall, a good listen. It’s just too bad that the netlabel, Laidback Electronica, that brought us this EP hasn’t had a release since 10 months ago but are working on some new ones. If you want to listen to more music of the same quality, I suggest you flock over there and show them some support.

Favourite tracks:
The First Slice of Bread
Has the best groove of the whole EP.

Strawberry Jam
Synth solo is interesting but also sounds a bit oriental.
